Ice Skating

We made these ice-skates yesterday after reading Callie Cat, Ice Skater by Anne Kennedy. It's really cute book about a cat that loves to skate until she find out about a big skating competition. She practices and practices but learns that perhaps winning isn't everything.

I would have liked Channing to have done some sponge stamping or something on them before we put them together but we ran out of time.

Here's what you need to make them:

Cardboard cut in boot shapes

A Hole Punch

Ribbon or a shoelace to "lace" the boot".

2 Popsicle sticks for the "blade". We colored ours silver with a sharpie.

  1. Sorry about the format of this post......for some reason, it is not allowing me to put any spaces between paragraphs! I have no idea why!!

  2. They turned out so cute! Have you tried pretend ice skating on the carpet? My boys and I did it last year during our Olympics Unit and it was great. You just put wax paper on your feet, over your socks and hold it on a rubber-band. It is so slippery and so fun!
